The world’s biggest drugmaker is in talks to acquire a stake in idea management technology and services company Imaginatik Plc.

Pfizer is the latest admirer of Aim-listed Imaginatik’s collaborative software programme. The software allows ideas and insights from employees in large organisations to be shared, providing input for possible additional revenue streams or cost savings.

Technology pioneer

As well as Pfizer, Imaginatik’s clients include Georgia-Pacific, W. R. Grace, ChevronTexaco, Bayer and Goodyear Tire & Rubber.

Pfizer also nominated Imaginatik for a technology pioneer award at the World Economic Forum at Davos earlier this year and Imaginatik was duly selected as one of 39 Technology Pioneers 2008. It was also named as one of the 50 fastest-growing technology companies last November and also picked up a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2007.

Market volatility

In spite of this, on Wednesday, the group revealed it was unlikely to reach market forecasts of £4.4 million revenues for the year to March 31.

It said the second half would result in a profit, which would strengthen the balance sheet and provide a positive operating cash flow for the period. It took a hit of £100,000 for the termination of its in-house consultancy business. WH Ireland, the group’s house broker, cut its full-year revenue forecast to £3.3 million and pre-tax profit forecast to £150,000.
